Sheep in the Foothills
The hillside at the Foothills Learning Center provided the site of the first Sheep in the Foothills Festival coordinated by the Idaho Wool Growers Association, the Rangeland Resource Commission, and the City of Boise.  Over 300 attended, enjoying the beautiful weather and listening to live music provided by the Boise Banjo Band.  Five local artists and exhibitors presented sheep related arts and crafts for sale, including sheep pelts, wool crafts, photographs, sheep bath & body products, natural dyed yarn and many other beautiful things.
Local spinners and weavers explained their craft and gave demonstrations.  Sheep Dog demonstrations were a highlight this year, with Rebekka Hankins and her herd dog crew (Sadie and Otto) showing their stuff throughout the day.  Duane Gallinger also gave a sheep shearing demonstration every half-hour.  Several breeds of sheep were also on display.
A delicious lamb dinner was provided by H & M Meats and Catering of Nampa.  Over 75 enjoyed the meal of barbeque lamb sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans and brownies for dessert.
